Introduction to Neural Networks and Deep Learning

Neural networks are practical machine learning techniques that can be used to automate and optimize the process of solving challenging tasks for the purpose of improving revenue and decreasing costs. Some data scientists apply the techniques without in-depth understanding of the underlying principles. Others would like to use it but they have no means of acquiring the knowledge.  This course aims at providing an intensive in-depth understanding of the neural networks and deep learning to the participants. At the end of the course the participants will be in a position to implement neural networks in solving business and research problems.

This course will include:

• A brief overview of Deep Learning and Neural Networks.
• Basics of a Neural Network which include step by step tutorial of how to solve a logistic regression problem and other problems.
• Shallow Neural Networks which include activation functions, gradient descent and Forward and Backpropagation.
• Deep Neural Networks

Introduction to Machine Learning

This course will introduce participants to the basics of data science on Python programming environment. The topics that will be covered include:

• Basic data science toolboxes
• Exploratory data analysis in conjunction with fundamental python programming techniques for data wrangling using Pandas data science library.
• Introduction to machine learning including the most common machine learning algorithms.

By the end of this course, students will be able to import data, clean it, manipulate it, run basic inferential statistical analyses and apply basic machine learning techniques.
